The Gift of ‘Discipline’.

0

If I could give one thing to the Philippines, it would have to be something intangible. We don’t need tangible things right now. We have them here. In fact, the country has a lot to offer. The best thing we could give our country is one that would make it better—one which could actually make the Philippines great. It’s something the country needs from us. It’s something we, as Filipinos, should really work on. It’s the gift of discipline.

I’m not sure if it is just a minority perception, but as an everyday commuter, you’ll see my point. From simple traffic and pedestrian rules to simple MRT/LRT courtesy and to our day-to-day life, the lack of discipline cannot be denied. Obedience and courtesy, for me is part of that discipline. I mean, how difficult is it to follow simple arrow instructions? How ‘bout falling in line and waiting for your turn? What’s with the pushing, the blocking, and the shoving? The jaywalking? The loading and unloading areas?

If we can’t follow these simple rules, what do we expect from the same people who make them? Of course, I can’t generalize. However, the simple logic prevailing right now is, ‘if Mr. Mayor/Mr. Governor/Mr. Representative/Mr. Senator/Mr. President/etc. can’t even follow our laws, then why should we?’ It has come to the point where ‘if everyone’s doing it, then why should I not do it?’. It seems as if we have lost faith not only in our country but also in ourselves—that we aren’t capable of doing what is right even though everyone’s doing what they think is right although it is wrong. It has come to the point when you do what is proper, you risk ending up at the bottom, whereas if you do what is improper you end up being at the top. Or, the faster you get to your destination, whatever it takes, the better. Why even use the overpass when you can just cross the street and stop the cars? Why even fall in line when you can cut line? Why even stop when you can beat the red light?

There should be no room for this mindset. We should not even entertain such thoughts. Discipline is something we need to work on. If we want to have a better country, we have to be better Filipinos. And, by being better, we have to instill discipline in our minds and our hearts—for a better Philippines.

So, as a Filipino, I give my gift of discipline to my country, the Philippines. Pay it forward, people.

To end this entry, I invite the readers of this blog to take part of #GLOBEProjectWonderful2014 by answering this question:

“If there is one thing you can give to the Philippines, what is that gift?”

I would really like to read/hear from you/your blog. :)

OneRepublic LIVE in Manila #OneRepublicMNL

0

They're coming!!!

Mark your calendars, people. OneRepublic Live in Manila, November 6, 2013 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum!

I might not be an avid OneRepublic fan but I am a casual fan. And, casual fans are equally important nonetheless. Their 'Waking Up' album is my favorite album from them, so far. This is probably one of the reasons why most of my favorite OneRepublic songs come from 'Waking Up'. That being said, I'd like to share my Top 5 OneRepublic songs. Ryan Tedder is full of talent and has great songwriting skills.

Top 5!
5. Apologize
This song is simply a classic OneRepublic song. The song that started it all for them (for me).
4. Waking Up
Definitely a crowd pleaser. I can imagine them perform this song live and everyone just into it. It has the 'revolution' feel--a musical revolution.
3. All This Time
This is why I appreciate OneRepublic so much. The love for piano. Simplicity at its finest.
2. Fear
It's hauntingly beautiful. It just is.
1. Good Life
A fan video led me to this song and I instantly fell in love with it. Amazing song that brings happy memories. I guess it reminds me of the days when life was simple, happy and peaceful. Plus, it gives me The X-Files feels. Love that show so much. Most importantly, it gives you that joy of living a good life.

Good Life just gives me a lot of feels. This video. That song. OneRepublic. They Win.

So, why am I looking forward to watch them live? Well, that's easy! I am aware of the fact that OneRepublic is amazing live and it would be a great experience to witness this during their concert here in the Philippines. It would not only be a great opportunity to see them perform live but it would mean a lot to me to watch them perform my favorite songs LIVE. See, the imagination has the chance to become a reality. That's how great it would be. That's the best reason I could think of why I am looking forward to watch OneRepublic LIVE. See you there?!

Transform yourself with Schick.

3

Man of Steel is coming!!!

Aaand, that would be me! Only, the man is actually a young woman. Haha.

Seriously though, if I were to have the powers of MAN OF STEEL for a week, I would try to make the world a better place. Cliché as it may seem, this has always been my dream—to make the world a better place the best way I can. I’ll use his power to inspire other people to get rid of the evils of society such as pride, envy, and greed. To inspire people to do what is right and just.

As I inspire others, I also get to see the beauty of the world.

Fly. Inspire. Teach. Change.

A week might not be enough for the whole world, but at least you get to start and eventually, pay it forward. This is the continuing power of a man, not of steel, but an ordinary man.

Lovely readers, I, too, would like to know how you’d use Man of Steel’s great power if you had it for a week. You could see THE MAN himself on the big screen! Let’s win some movie tickets from Shick’s Superman promo contest!

Join now! :)

This is how you transform yourself, people. This. Schick. Free Your Skin.

Kettle Korn: Poppin’ Fun All The Time!

0

A Challenge

If I were to star in my own movie, my story would be…

Well, that’s some poppin’ challenge! Might as well try to be creative.

The Plot

In a city run by corrupt public officials and backed by police officers and prosecutors, a young attorney is caught between having a wonderful career in the current system or die fighting for what is right. A man, John Doe, was accused of murdering a police officer, turned to a young defense lawyer for help. As she was convinced of her client’s innocence, she dug deeper into the case and everything began to unravel—the involvement of the police, the public officials and how the prosecutor manipulated witnesses to concoct the whole story against her client. Her quest begins.

This film simply tells a story of a criminal defense attorney and her quest for truth and justice.

Movies and Kettle Korn: They go together!

Kettle Korn makes watching movies poppin’ fun all the time.

WHY?

Simple – popcorn and movies go together EVERY time, particularly if it’s Kettle Korn.

Kettle-Korn-Badge

It’s fresh. It’s poppin’! And, it  tastes REAL GOOD. It gets you every time you watch a movie. So, the next time you decide to watch, just grab some Kettle Korn, and enjoy the movie!

You can’t top this!

The Great Abenson and The Powerful Lumia!

0

Smartphones are definitely IN these days. You have the iPhones, the Android phones, the Blackberry and, of course, the ever reliable Nokia smartphones—i.e. The Windows Phone. And, this, ladies and gentlemen, is what we are talking about. Nokia, powered by the new Windows 8 system. Yes, they have come together to have one, great and powerful phone. They have emerged and are definitely fighting back.

If you are looking for powerful, stylish, yet affordable smartphones, Nokia Lumia 620 is the best phone for you. There’s Lumia 820 and 920 for high-end users as well. What makes it different from all the other phones out there? Simple, its elegant layout, the Nokia smart shoot, which make it easier to take a series of photo in just one click, the wireless charging, the swappable shells, and of course, the full versions of Microsoft Office, Outlook and IE 10. Plus, Nokia has, arguably, the best camera phone out there.

Also, the Lumia 620, 820 and 920 have had rave reviews on its free cloud storage and free streaming music. Moreover, in Lumia 620’s case, it fits in your pocket—it’s not bulky, not huge—simply, it’s handy. The keyboard has taken a lot of great reviews as well. Pocket-lint described it as “the best virtual keyboard we’ve used.”

Evidently, the Nokia Lumia phones have taken the tech junkies by surprise in a very good way. You can surely have fun and work at the same time. It makes life simpler and better. This is what makes Nokia Lumia 620, 820 and 920, powered by Windows 8, the best choice for you. This is the best phone that would suit you.

Now, the question: where do I buy Nokia Lumia?

Answer: ABENSON.

Abenson is one of the Philippines’ biggest appliance network. They have the best deals and the best people to talk to. Their reputation is undeniable. For years, people have bought appliances and the current gadgets in the nearest Abenson store in their locale. Our family, for one, purchased home appliances, mobile technology and other gadgets from Abenson. It has not only been a part of the economic structure of the country, but also of people’s lives. The 0% interest on installment plans make it easier for credit card holders to buy the gadgets they want. Plus, they have exclusive freebies, such as USBs, tablets, hard drives and much more. The thing is, they have so much to offer.
