DIY: Photo Frame for Photo Clippings

I used to be the 'arts and crafts' girl. I miss that. I miss it so bad that I was so determined to revisit this hobby. I'm glad I did. Now, I can say: "I MADE THIS."

Introducing my first DIY project - Photo Frame for Photo Clippings Made of Coconut Broomstick.

I'm not even sure it's what it should be called. Haaaa!

Reduce. Reuse. Recyle. This is the theme of this project. Typo's mini photo clips which came with  a photo string originally cost Php199.75. Since there was a 30% discount, I only spent Php139.825 for this project. ;)

What you need:

• Used and/or old walis tingting or coconut broomstick
• Used plastic and/or paper ropes
• Photo clips
• Yarns/Photo string
• Photos
• Pens

What to do:

Step 1:  Disassemble the walis tingting or coconut broomstick. Wash it with soap and water. Let it dry.

Step 2:  Group the sticks into four, representing the frame's four sides. You can group them either by height or randomly.

Step 3:  Use the rope (in my case, the paper rope) to tie each group of sticks together. If you're good at tying knots, it's your time to shine!

Do the same for the other three. Now, we have all four sides of the frame.

Step 4:  Set-up the frame. Use the rope to tie each of the corner of the frame. The better the knot, the sturdier the frame is.

Step 5:  Insert the coconut yarn or string into the clip's hole. It's like inserting a thread into a needle. See the photo below.

Insert as many pins as necessary.

Step 6:  Tie the end of the yarn or string in one side and the other end to the other side.

Step 7:  Choose the photos you'd like to 'hang'. You may add captions to have a more personal feel to it. 

So there, that's 7 basic steps on how to make your own photo frame for your photo clippings. This is a basic photo frame. It's up to you if you'd like make it more personalized and more artsy. For now, it's as basic as it can be.

First VIP ticket ever. First trip abroad ever. You gotta document every moment of it, right? The last photo's my favorite and the best one, I believe. I remember that moment clearly. I was walking towards the stage to take the best photo I could and to actaully get a closer glimpse of Mariah. I was initially recording the Always Be My Baby performance on my phone and everyone was calmly waking towards the stage and so was I. Being able to see Mariah that close was a dream come true. Wish it were closer, but there were a lot of people standing right in front of me. Good thing is, I'm tall. Hence, the awesome photo.

The X-Files DVDs—almost complete!

January 08, 2013 – The DVDs have arrived!

It’s ‘public knowledge’. I am a huge fan of The X-Files, the best TV series in the whole universe! My time has come. I finally had the chance to purchase and have my very own the X-Files DVDs from Amazon. Remember the Black Friday sale? Yes. It was the best deal yet. Each DVD set cost $10.49 from Seasons 1 to 6. My X-Files DVD Series Collection is almost complete. Two to go! And yes, I am hoping I could purchase Seasons 8 and 9 at the same rate ha.

Finally, Season 7 is no longer alone—the classic packaging and all that. Mix the old with the new. The new sets and the old one—you can clearly see the difference, huh? Huge 7.

There’s a reason to have such a delayed post after all. I just didn’t want to end January with the previous post.

I have seen photos of museums and things that can be found inside but I have never been in one until now. This was my first time to be in a museum. June 9, you will forever be remembered as the day I was in a museum. Yes, The Philippines' own. Next time, the National museum, yes? Haha.

The Mind Museum is worth it (time-wise), but I wish they could lower the fees--it is quite expensive not unless you are covered by the discounts.

Mother's Day 2012.

Mother's Day would not be complete without food and some handwritten 'table paper' Mother's Day greetings!

Daughter and proud. My mama is the best mother in the world! There is no doubt about that. We may not agree on everything but what is important is I love my mom. I may not utter the words so often like some people do but I make sure that she knows that I do. I love you, Mama! It is not just about how many times you say it, it is also about how you show it. So, as a daughter to my mom, I would do everything to make her happy and proud. :)

Stations of the Cross? 14.  Churches/chapels visited? 7.

They say it should have been 14. Well, that's them, not us. This is being practical. (I am of the opinion that it won't make me less Catholic when I visit only 7--laughs) It is, after all, about FAITH.

When we were much younger, we spend the holy week in the province. Holy Thursday was about the procession--the "libot" ("Tremble, tremble..."). That was the tradition. Now, times have changed. Holy Thursday has been about the churches, the stations of the cross, our prayers and Jesus. There are, however, some things which remain the same. Good Friday is the "mass" day. Black Saturday seems to be the rest day or the free day while Easter Sunday is, of course, Easter Sunday.

It is about FAITH. It is, but not entirely. We have the tradition and the culture. It is how holy week is in the Philippines. It is what we have been used to. Well, that's just me. Certainly, people do know and understand why we, Catholics, have this holy week but there are those who have different views on this. I do know and understand it too. A different view as to "why"? Well, not really. I'm just used to it. And, to be honest, it is about my faith. I do not really care about the rituals or those religious terminologies. I am just not as deep as some people are about Catholicism. I do not equate my faith with my religion. (Not that I am saying that some people do--I don't care, really).

Everything about the holy week is actually interesting. The fact that we talk about the Bible, religion, God, Jesus and faith gives us certain realizations. In the end, we still have the faith we so dearly hold. It might be a controversial topic but when you talk about it with family and relatives, it is actually fun and enlightening. You should try it if you haven't.

Random: Why is Good Friday called "Good" Friday? Why not Holy Friday?

The Moon Last Night.

April 6, 2012 - Good Friday.

The moon was so beautiful last night that you don't need to edit the photos or use photo effects to see its beauty. It's simply amazing. 

In case you're wondering, the trick is to use your camera's video feature rather than simply taking a picture. Well, that's if you have a simple digital camera like ours. A simple click won't do the trick not unless you have a camera that could really capture such an amazing moon.

 It was indeed a Good Friday moon.
