Life, fairness and TV shows

The past few days have taught me a lot about life. You see, the semester I thought would be the final semester was not exactly THE final semester I was hoping for. Good thing I didn't get my hopes up. Still, you can't help but feel sad or even angry especially when you know that certain things aren't supposed to be right but are nonetheless treated as such. It would make you think, "Yeah, life isn't fair. Deal with it" (Subconsciously, "Karma's gonna get you"). Indeed, life isn't fair and I have learned to accept that fact for so long. People can't please everybody. Hell, I don't even expect myself to please everybody. Luck wasn't on my side. Or, I was probably not ready. *rolls eyes* lol. Maybe, just maybe, God knows that I can do better next semester and that I would be more ready to face the next step. Well, I will try my best--to understand and to study harder. I wish, hope and pray that people would see the light--that in order to get what we want, we should work hard for it and earn it, fair and square. By the merits--nothing more, nothing less.

Clearly, I am upset. Then again, I have to deal with it. Somehow, I have. In fact, I am more determined than ever. This is probably one of the reasons why I was able to make this 'Friday Night Lights' inspired Facebook cover, one of the fastest covers I've made so far. I'm creative when I am determined.

CLEAR EYES. FULL HEARTS. CAN'T LOSE. I am ready for you, final sem!

 

Before I begin with the final sem, the break must end first. I still have a day to enjoy watching my favorite TV shows. Vacation is not a vacation without TV shows.  I've caught up with them and I must say that 'Agents of SHIELD' and 'Gotham' have been awesome this season. Well, it's  Shield's second season, and Gotham's first. We need more of these shows! (I am intentionally ignoring CW). 'Homeland' has come back and it's crazy good--mostly because of Peter Quinn! Haaaa! Aaaand, Claire Danes' brilliant acting. The Fall, Grimm, and The Newsroom have premiered as well. So, there's a lot of catching up when the next semester begins!!!! For now, I've caught up and I'm enjoying lots of shows. I am looking forward to the returning shows and the new ones as well. Oh, lots and lots of them.

Here's to life, fairness and TV shows! *cheers*

Uh-huh. No more case digests to think about. Too bad I was not able to take a photo of my precious digest. Haha. Oh well...it would have been cool considering how the world is right now--everything is documented. (Sayanggg!)

Anyway, the whole point of this post is...MERCY. Dave Matthews Band is back and I am a happy fan. This is such an amazing song--very, very inspiring. This is what music is all about. This is what great music is. GENIUS.

It's baseball season!

It's MLB season once again. Opening week was not what people expected. The usual top teams, New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox have been losing games. Who would have thought, right? I was surprised, to say the least. Yankees losing 3 games (0-3), what is happening? (laughs) Then, the wins came. The series at Baltimore, particularly the 2 games I was able to catch. The 4-4 games--those were great games. The one ended in the 12th inning with the Yankees winning, 5-4; and the other in the 10th inning with the Yankees also winning, 6-4. Yes, the Yankees came back. As to the BoSox, well, I'm not particularly inclined with the rival. I still wish them the best this season, though.

2012, I would love to see the Yankees win the world series this season. It would mean a lot. I am also hoping for a great season for Derek Jeter. This guy, my favorite of all time--total package. MVP would be good but a ring would be great and I think he'd prefer the latter. Why not have both, right? :)

Finally, mov .gifs!

Finally made my own mov gifs! Thanks to x-filesgifs for helping me out and queeneverdeen for the tutorial!

I have been wanting to create gifs of my favorite TV/Movie scenes/clips and finally, I did! I have no idea what to call them--I just refer to them as mov gifs. (laughs)

My gifs are usually texts or photos.Take this one, for example:

Now, I've learned how to make gifs from video files. (Again, thanks to internet geniuses who willingly shared the trick) I am still, of course, a newbie when it comes to these mov gifs. So bear with me.

Holy Thursday.

Stations of the Cross? 14.  Churches/chapels visited? 7.

They say it should have been 14. Well, that's them, not us. This is being practical. (I am of the opinion that it won't make me less Catholic when I visit only 7--laughs) It is, after all, about FAITH.

When we were much younger, we spend the holy week in the province. Holy Thursday was about the procession--the "libot" ("Tremble, tremble..."). That was the tradition. Now, times have changed. Holy Thursday has been about the churches, the stations of the cross, our prayers and Jesus. There are, however, some things which remain the same. Good Friday is the "mass" day. Black Saturday seems to be the rest day or the free day while Easter Sunday is, of course, Easter Sunday.

It is about FAITH. It is, but not entirely. We have the tradition and the culture. It is how holy week is in the Philippines. It is what we have been used to. Well, that's just me. Certainly, people do know and understand why we, Catholics, have this holy week but there are those who have different views on this. I do know and understand it too. A different view as to "why"? Well, not really. I'm just used to it. And, to be honest, it is about my faith. I do not really care about the rituals or those religious terminologies. I am just not as deep as some people are about Catholicism. I do not equate my faith with my religion. (Not that I am saying that some people do--I don't care, really).

Everything about the holy week is actually interesting. The fact that we talk about the Bible, religion, God, Jesus and faith gives us certain realizations. In the end, we still have the faith we so dearly hold. It might be a controversial topic but when you talk about it with family and relatives, it is actually fun and enlightening. You should try it if you haven't.

Random: Why is Good Friday called "Good" Friday? Why not Holy Friday?

Btw, we have awesome churches/chapels in the Philippines! :)

A year older. Perceptions have changed.

Life might have become more difficult today but I have become more idealistic than ever. It used to be about what it is and how it is. It was never about what it should be and how it could be. That has changed. I refuse to believe that we are unable to resist misdeeds, corruption and everything that is evil. We can. We are capable of it. We will.  I believe in goodness. I believe that people can make the world a better place. Idealism exists because it is possible. It was never about simply going with the flow--with what we have now. It is about making it better. I believe it still.

I am tired of "in reality", "it is what it is", "in the end, you'll be consumed by it". Well, I would not succumb to it. They say, you should never be part of something which would eventually turn you against your principles and morals. Well, people will be consumed by it because they allow the system to consume them. Then again, it is not about the system. It is the people who allow this current system of ours to make them who they are now. Cliche' as it may sound, the only solution is to stop settling with what it is and how it is. How can you change the life you so hate when you yourself settles with it? Yes, it is easier said than done but it can be done. It can be.

I do believe that what can be imagined can be achieved. If people have done and continues to make innovations and so many things for science, medicine, technology and all that, then it seems logical that the world can be a better place in terms of life and the system we are in.

Our history says it happened. It can happen. It will happen. We all just need to "man up"!

Meet Phillip Phillips and Heejun Han. For those who have no idea who they are, better watch American Idol. :)

Their friendship or as what people call, "bromance", is one of the best things that ever happened on American Idol. No kidding. I am dead serious.

Just so you know, Phillip Phillips is my American Idol this season. Heejun Han is one of my favorites too--has great personality and all that. He can sing as well. Talk about talent and personality.

Nomnomnomstagram.

Instagram is "IN" nowadays that it makes you want to have an iPhone, iPad, and those oh-so-expensive iProducts. It is so "in" that we've heard news about Android's own version of it. Well, that's something to watch out for--I think. The competition? It's cool. It is innovative.

Yet, for people like me who'd settle with what we/I have right now, we can "create" these photo effects with the amazing and forever reliable Photoshop and similar softwares. Thanks to the world wide web, we have the Instagram tutorials. Yes, you can have your own Instagram photos but you either have to follow those tutorials or simply get hold of the "photoshop actions".

Google is the key.

Take for example these photos. The FOOD is lookin' good--very artsy.

No iPhone, no iPad, no iProducts. Just Photoshop.

The great thing about these photo effects is that it makes a not-so-good photo quality look good. I guess that's one of its fine points.
